A Nigerian lady identified as Oyin Olukotun, has bagged a first class degree from Cambridge University in the United Kingdom.

The brilliant student made this known in a LinkedIn post as she shared an inspiring story of how she surmounted challenges to achieve the academic feat.

She bagged a 1st class degree in Law from the prestigious university, but it was not an easy ride as there were setbacks in the early stages.

Oyin recounted applying three years ago to study Law at Cambridge, but she sadly could not make her grades. However, the determined lady did not give up, rather, she tried again and gained admission into the school.

Also, during the course of her time at the school, Oyin said she suffered imposter syndrome (which is the lack of believe that one’s success is deserved or was achieved as a result of one’s own efforts or skills).

Fortunately, she overcame the mental and physical challenges and graduated with distinction.

She wrote; “3 years ago I missed my grades to get into Cambridge. Today I graduate from Cambridge with a First Class degree in Law.

“Having felt imposter syndrome regularly throughout the degree to placing within the top 15% of my cohort, I have achieved what my 16 year old self could only dream of and am extremely proud of my achievement.

I could not have completed this degree without the encouragement and support of my friends, family and pastoral support at my college. I remain eternally grateful. I now look forward to starting Thursday and Friday with CMS Academy tomorrow.”
